VYSHHOROD

The modern emblem

It was confirmed in March, 3d, 1996 by the decision #144 of city council session.

Argent; Gules-Sable clothed sacred Borys and Hlib wich hold cross Or. The shield is enframed by cartouche Or and crowned by city crown Argent.
Sacred Borys and Hlib symbolize outstanding historical city past as a large craft centre and northern outpost of Kyiv, and also one of oldest churches built in the city.
The or cross historically symbolizes city as one of most ancient centres of religious life of Kyivs'ka Rus' and availability an ancient monastery near the city.
The gules widely common during Kyivs'ka Rus' and means bravery and force, boldness, love.
Sable means guard, wisdom, depth and mystery of life, grief.
The affiliation gules and sable symbolically means tragedy of Borys and Hlib who was killed by brother from approve idea of christian love.
The argent symbolizes purity, faultlessness and uprightness.
