It was confirmed in December, 22nd, 2001 by the decision #№108-22/01 of XXII region council session of XXIII convocation. Per pale, the dexter per fess. Argent; church azure. Azure; rampant horse argent. Vert; beech nuts or in pale. The shield is enframed by wreath or from beech branches and ears, entwined by blue-and-yellow ribbon, and crowned by flower or Eastern Carpathian rhododendron red.
The main motive is the Bukovyna folk song: "Bukovyna green is divided into three parts..." Argent symbolizes unread (unopened) pages of history, azure means water, vert means fields and forest of region. The church was built in Luzhany in 1453, now it is the oldest church in Bukovyna. The horse is symbol of freedom and hard work. The nuts symbolize the forests. Flower ("ruta") is the prototype of the world-famous song of V.Ivasiuk. The author is V.Hnatiuk.
