APOSTOLOVE

The city's name is derived from the name of Mykhailo Muraviov-Apostol, the great-grandson of het'man Danylo Apostol, who, after elimination of Zaporizhzhya Sich in 1793, received this land along the steppe river. There was founded Pokrovs'ke village. Later, during the construction of Catherynyns'ka railway, was founded station Apostolove.
