KOZELETS'KYI REGION

OSTER

It is situated on the banks of the river Oster.
The first mention refers to 1098 when Volodymyr Monomach has founded a town "on Vestri".
Since 1657 it was a squadron town of Pereyaslav regiment.
In 1655 king Yan II Kasimir granted the Magdeburg Right and the emblem - on a vert field is mural gate with three small towers with or cross on the central one.
