It is located in a mouth of the Nichlava river. The first mention refers to 1578. The second name "Biskups'ke" (Episcopal) it has received because in end of ХV century it belonged to Kamyanets'-Podil's'kyi latin episcopacy. Data about presence of the city rights and magdeburg emblem was not kept. The earliest known stamp used in 1857-1866. It represented the local church, accompanied by two pines.
