The first mention in Ipatii chronicle refers to 1287. In 1264 there was constructed Saint Yuri's stone church which exists now. There was one of the greatest libraries of theological books. In 1392 there was the Polish king Vladyslav Yagailo. The city has liked him, and in 1412 he constructed the church which exists now.
In 1541 was granted the Magdebourg right. In 1569, after Lublin Union, the city was a part of the Holm land. In 1659 city was the property of Ukrainian het'man Ivan Vyhovs'kyi. Other hetman - Pavlo Teterya - in 1660 was the city manager. Since 1768 Lyuboml' was property of the big Polish magnate K.Branyts'kyi. In 1782 he built the large palace which exists now. In 1874 was built the railway (Kovel'-Maceiv-Lyuboml').
