KRYZHOPIL'

Occurrence of settlement began in the summer of 1866. It is connected to construction of the Kyiv-Odesa railway. The station has received the name from the village Kryzhopil' located for 17khms. Name "Kryzhopil'" occurs from a geographical position of village. The range-watershed between Southern Bug and Dnister runs here. The word "range" (Kryazh) and "field" (pole) form "Kryazhopol'", that, has obviously changed in due course in Kryzhopil'.
