The first mention refers to 1421. In 1470 it received the city rights. Belonged at various times to families Kirdei, Buchats'kyis, Sobes'kyis, Badeni.
In city till our time is the palace of the former owner of these lands, duke Kazymyr Badeni (1846-1909) which was the deputy of Galychyna, was kept by prime-minister of Austria and Minister of Internal Affairs. The palace was constructed in classical style with heraldic attributes. Duke has left kind memory about itself and the exaggerated legends of the riches. One of them - he was so rich, that wished to lay out a floor in the palace by gold coins. But emperor have not resolved to execute it - on coins were the arms which could not be trambled down. The duke wanted to put coins on an edge - but so much coins he did not have.
